Bacon Silver Bell
19 fret tenor
Previous owner Glen Thompson
Played on the Soundtrack Album
for the movie production of "Hello Dolly"
(Louis Armstrong)
This is the banjo that so many of us can relate to
when we hear that song being played, and Satchmo singing it loud
and clear!
Glen was a journeyman banjoist and was lucky enough
to land that gig and many others.
There is also a letter to Glen
from the "King of Comedy".......... Jerry Lewis....thanking Glen for making
an experience pleasurable one and it was sent to Glen while he was staying
at the Desert Sands in Las vegas , back in the 60's
The photo is of the group with Louis but the banjo shown is one of Glens other banjos, looks like a Vegaphone to me.
I have a written letter of documentation that goes with this instrument from the owner who acquired it fron Glen stating that it was the Bacon used in the soundtrack recording.
