I made this banjo from parts I received from Paul Morrissey( deceased), Liberty Banjo Co.
The wood is new old stock from the 1970s, as is most of the hardware.
11" x 3/4" rolled maple, with a double head bearing tone ring system of my own design that gives the banjo an archtop setup.
24 bracket shoe style, with individual flange plates.
This banjo was built by me when I knew NOTHING really, about banjo building.
Working on them, and building them are 2 different worlds!
When I just took it apart to clean it and give it to Mere for a keepsake, I saw all of the innovations I thought were good, and judging by the tone, I was on the right track.
I have built many banjos since, and this one holds it own in tone, with them all.
Just lucky I guess!
Well she is a grown gal now, and has her own place so it needs to go and take up space in her Abode now!

The inlay is also from Liberty, and I used a "Star" pattern with a peghead shape unique to this banjo.
The one big "M" speaks for itself!
Resonator is tiger maple and bound with 2 styles of purfling

Tiger maple neck, made to a thin profile, to suit a woman's hands
double concentric rings of wood veneer in the back

And  one of my favorite pics of us, that also includes my Dad.

And I got a smile from Dad  at least!
Now its off to Mere, back to the city of it's birth, Austin TX!
Love Dad.
